Furbish From a Linguistic Perspective
hi! if you're familiar with furbies you probably know the very short conlang (a sketch fictlang in particular) furbish! furbish is the language furbies speak before you "teach" them english by taking care of them. i will only be covering the '98 language, as the 2005 and 2010 language updates break some of the language rules the '98 version sets up, and I don't want to deal with that atm. also, do note i'm not a linguist, i just watch a lot of conlang critic
Phonology
Consonants
furbish has 9 consonants, with one digraph (wh) counting as a consonant for simplicity's sake. these consonants are /m/, /n/, /b/, /t/, /d/, /k/, /hw/ or /h/, /l/, and /w/.
Vowels
furbish has 6 vowels (including 2 dipthongs): /i/, /u/, /eɪ/, /o/, /aɪ/, and /ɑ/.
Syllables
syllables are made up of vowels and consonants, shown in this chart. There are a total of 35 syllables in furbish.
Morphology
to make a word, syllables are put together using dashes, though some words are syllables on their own. additionally, new words can be created by putting a dash in between two existing words; like "ay-ay-lee-koo" (listen), a compound of "ay-ay" (look) and "lee-koo" (sound).
Grammar/Syntax
furbish seems to work almost the same as english grammar-wise, with a few differences. like many languages, it follows the subject–verb–object word order. for example, "i love you" would be "kah may-may u-nye". verbs have no conjugations and there are no tenses in furbish, along with there being no distinction between a singular and plural noun. most adjectives and nouns in furbish also work as verbs, and a word/phrase equivalent of "to be" does not exist. verbs have no conjugation, and adverbs go in front of the verb. it has two final particles, "doo" as a way to express that a question is being asked (similar to "ka" in japanese) and "wah" as a way to express excitement.
Proposals (Non-Canon)
i have a few proposals to make furbish a fuller language. for starters, making more syllable combinations for coining new words. secondly, a furby alphabet. each letter would represent a furbish syllable. another thing is filler words. i believe "ah" would be a great filler word, as furbies tend to say it a lot while being played with. i also suggest "doo", which could work as the furbish speaker questioning what they should say. finally, i've come up with a canon name for furbish in furbish. "kah-lee-koo", a compound of "kah" (me) and "lee-koo" (sound). roughly translated it means "my sound".
I'm autistic about furbies and conlangs fascinate me, so I had to make this!! I hope you all enjoyed :]

On 17th October 1821 Alexander Gardner, renowned photographer of the American Civil War was born in Paisley.
Gardner became an apprentice jeweller at the age of 14, lasting seven years. He had a Church of Scotland upbringing and was influenced by the work of Robert Owen, Welsh socialist and father of the cooperative movement. By the time he reached adulthood he and his brother James had the idea to create a cooperative in the United States that would incorporate socialist values, they travelled to Iowa with this in mind in 1850, Alexander returned to Scotland to raise money for the project and purchased the Glasgow Sentinel, quickly turning it into the second largest newspaper in the city.
On his return to the United States in 1851, Gardner paid a visit to the Great Exhibition in Hyde Park, New York, where he saw the photographs of Mathew Brady for the first time. Shortly afterward, Gardner began reviewing exhibitions of photographs in the Glasgow Sentinel, as well as experimenting with photography on his own.
In 1856, Gardner decided to over permanently to America, eventually settling in New York. He soon found employment with Mathew Brady as a photographer. At first, Gardner specialized in making large photographic prints, called Imperial photographs, but as Brady’s eyesight began to fail, Gardner took on more and more responsibilities. In 1858, Brady put him in charge of the entire gallery.
Two years later, Gardner opened a portrait studio for Brady in Washington, D.C. It was so successful that it helped to support Brady’s more extravagant New York studio.
When the American Civil War erupted in 1861, Gardner assisted Brady in his effort to make a complete photographic record of the conflict. Brady, however, refused to give Gardner public credit for his work. Gardner therefore left Brady in 1863, opened a portrait gallery in Washington, and continued to photograph the hostilities on his own. His photographs President Lincoln on the Battlefield of Antietam as seen in the photos and other portraits of Lincoln are among the best-known photographs of the war period.
Gardner’s Photographic Sketch Book of the Civil War, a two-volume collection of 100 original prints, was published in 1866. When Brady petitioned Congress to buy his photographs of the war, Gardner presented a rival petition, claiming that it was he, not Brady, who had originated the idea of providing the nation with a photographic history of the conflict. Congress eventually bought both collections.
In 1867 Gardner became the official photographer for the Union Pacific Railroad. Primarily active in Kansas, he photographed the building of the railroad and the new settlements that grew up near it. He also compiled valuable photographic documentation of the Plains Indians of North America.
Returning to Washington, he gradually lost interest in photography and devoted the rest of his life to philanthropy.
In 1871, Gardner gave up photography entirely to start an insurance company. He lived in Washington until his death in 1882. Regarding his work he said, “It is designed to speak for itself. As mementos of the fearful struggle through which the country has just passed, it is confidently hoped that it will possess an enduring interest.”

OLD ART (2021-2022) + 2023 sketches I never posted!
You've probably heard of my bird bois Zol and Xilim if you follow my Instagram, but did you know they're named after my OCs who are original species called rynka [rrin-kah] which were based on griffins? 👀 Here's my initial concepts of the rynka species!
While working on Project UNCIA sometime in 2020, I introduced gryphons into the story as I wanted some form of fantasy creature equivalent to horses. At first, I never considered what they'd looked like. When I was still studying at 3dsense in 2021, I'd already wanted to incorporate personal work into my assignments and made use of them to explore personal character designs.
The creature design assignments I had in particular were my opportunity to expand on this gryphon idea and eventually they became known as 'rynka' as the story is set in an alien planet. I had a lot of fun working on the rynka designs! ❤️
I won't ramble about the design process but you can zoom in on the images to read my notes. Best viewed on desktop!
I didn't post these earlier because I wanted to complete them at my own time since I never finished the original creature infographic. Alas, I don't think I ever will as I'd rather redo everything from scratch so I'm leaving them as is.
I'm finally going to reveal my current designs for my OCs Zol, Ysri & Xilim (collectively known as the XYZ siblings) and wanted to give an introduction of their species first!

[ sen mitsuji, cismale, he/him ] - was that KAGE HIMURA i saw by the lighthouse today? i heard that the THIRTY-FIVE year old who has been in nightrest for THIRTEEN YEARS and works as an OWNER OF THE WEEPING GLASS has a reputation of being CULTIVATED, but also OFF-PUTTING. they reside in ASHMORE & people in town usually associate them with THE DRIP OF RAIN SLIDING DOWN A FOGGED UP WINDOW, A BLACK CAT CROSSING THE STREET, A NIRVANA RECORD SPINNING TOO SLOWLY, & HEAVY RINGS CLUTTERING A TATTOOED HAND. let’s hope the killer doesn’t go after them next.
tw: divorce, bullying
Kage (pronounced kah-gey, though the years have heard it be butchered time and time again, nine times out of ten he’ll correct you or pronounce your name wrong in turn) lived predominately in Burlington, Vermont. His parents, even before he was born, were destined for divorce. Who’d have thought a child wouldn’t save that? End the screaming matches and distrust? Growing up in that environment made Kage cynical, especially when it came to love.
When his parents finally split, holding off until he made it to middle school, Kage spent the majority of the time with his mother as his father returned back to the sea, going back to the career as a commercial fisherman that he had ditched in his younger years. It was when his father was back on dry land that Kage would travel down to Rockport for weekends, sometimes weeks in the summer. Rockport became Boston then Boston became Salem.
The jumping back and forth, the learned distrust, Kage had been the kind of kid in school to retreat in towards himself. He was often found sitting at the back corner of class, nose deep in a book or sketching something on paper, always with ink stains on his hands. He’d taken interest in horror movies, The Exorcist his favorite, though Saw always landing towards the top, the first he’d seen in theaters.
His interests made him a target for bullying, another thing that added to the armor he built around himself.
Eventually, he made his way to Northeaster University, majoring in Media Arts and Communication Studies. The dream had been to get into the industry, make a name for himself next to Carpenter and Craven. Look hard enough and you might even find one of his school projects on Youtube.
While the dream hadn’t died, Kage’s trust issues ran deep enough where he didn’t trust himself. His script has been a work in progress for nearly fifteen years. It didn’t even have a title. Something was always wrong with it. The idea when he had moved to Nightrest shortly after college, was for him to write, setting the mood with a creepy seaside down, getting a job at the local oddity shop. It wasn’t supposed to be permanent.
Edgard West had been the original owner of The Weeping Glass. An old man that hobbled around with an injury he refused to fix. “Can’t trust those doctors,” he’d say. Always something new coming out of his mouth. Kage wouldn’t have been the type to say it but that man had become his best friend. It’s what made the goodbye harder. One day Ed placed the keys in his hand, gave him a slap on the back, and said “All yours now, kid.” Kage still gets a monthly postcard from Ed now down in Florida.
Kage isn’t the most friendly resident of Nightrest. He can be harsh and abrupt, preferring not to expand his social circle more than he has to. And even when you’re in that circle, he’s not the most loving, not the type to tell you. But you’ll know it in the small gestures, the little hints Kage gives away.
Tattoos on tattoos on tattoos. Mostly every piece suits his darker aesthetic, with characters from horror movies, the classic skeleton, a death moth on his throat. There’s a few lighter ones in there as well, usually smaller, hidden— like the little drink umbrella near the crook of his elbow. He’s also got a few piercings: ears, an eyebrow, and septum.
Lives next to The Stowaway, though the Beckfords seem to wish he didn’t. Kage doesn’t get along with his neighbors. First it was the painting of his house, the bold black not to their taste. Then it was the overgrown garden. Then it just became sort of a game for Kage to play. Playing his records on high volume often an easy favorite.
He has a Sphynx named Mitsuko, often shortened to Mits, and a Great Dane named Kramer.
Will drink a cocktail before beer or straight liquor any day.
With business hit or miss (usually picking up most in September and October), Kage sells items online, along with some of his sketches. Though the art is submitted under a false name: H. M. Westwood.
I CANNOT THINK OF ANYTHING ELSE OMG JUST LIKE AND ALSO HATE HIM THANK YOU <3

Pretty Cure OC’s (Yakuki Pretty Cure Of Honor); Yang Ryukawa AKA Cure Dragon
Yang Ryukawa ; AKA Cure Dragon (Yang Ree-you-kah-wah)
This is an Ancient East-Asian soldier themed Pretty Cure. It’s a three person team. (Pink, Purple, & Yellow) Each Cure is based off of a different hero-brand, purple (Cure Ninja) is the ninja, yellow is the dragon, pink is the Samurai.
In their world, in far distant land separated from the major countries of Asia, there’s 3 Clans that hold great power to keep their land afloat from an ancient dark threat known as the Kurogata. This threat has been at war with the kingdoms for decades, with no one having knowledge of where the threat came from and how to permanently defeat it.
However, with the three ancient Honor Brooches, the clans leaders have used a power each to protect civilians. A power that has been passed down through generations by the royal family of each kingdom. Each brooch holds a power of an ancient soldier and the clan’s mascot: The Samurai, The Ninja, and The Dragon.
Shingawa is the clan of the Dragon. As such, the power is carried down to its daughter, and Meiyo Genkei of Yakuki's (Cure Honor) cousin, Lionel Genkei.
However... a freak accident made that not happen.
Yang Ryukawa is the only cure on this main team that is NOT a princess of a kingdom. Or of any form of royalty and power at all.
Rather, she started out as just a nobody from the streets of Yakuki.
Yang Ryukawa was a daughter of a family in Shingawa that tried to flee to Yakuki for refuge after a harsh battle with the Kurogata. The Battle of The Raging Waves was a significant event in Shingawa as the main event that kickstarted the kingdom's control of/obsession over water and the power it contained.
Though the battle was deemed success by royalty, it wasn't for many citizens, as it cost the lives of Yang's parents in the tsunami. Yang was very young at the time, thus couldn't remember her birth parents, but she would remember the raging waves, and have a fear of water.
Now an orphan in Yakuki, Yang grew up as a shy and nervous girl who just preferred to do the labor the kingdom's laws demanded and be on her way, without throwing a fuss about how unfair the kingdom's politics could be.
Unfortunately, her life didn't stay that simple. There was one time in her life when she had ambitions to try and get ahead and get more in her life by becoming an artist. She does sketches as a hobby and has a passion for it. But her drawings were not of realism, like artists in Yakuki were expected of, instead they were of a more cartoony style. So she was often misunderstood.
She worked up the courage to present her art to the public. In an attempt to gain something in her life, whether that be money, recognition, a job opportunity, or even new friends. She used up every yen she had for this presentation to show to make her dreams come true.
It didn't. Not only did not a single person buy her art, but she would soon be found by the castle guards, who saw her art as an insult towards the king. (That was not her intent at all.) So she was forced to run away from her orphanage and cut her hair so nobody could arrest her.
There she would spend her days as a beggar on the streets that would be lucky to even get supper. It was this trauma that only increased Yang's insecurities and anxieties. She never even complained about her status and the people in power being the cause of it.
Her art was the one thing she worked up the courage to do, to risk, to say a voice and make a difference in the community. It only destroyed her life.
So, you know, why try anything risky ever again? Why try anything new ever again? Why say anything ever again? You're just a plucky child. You don't have a chance. There's nothing you can do.
Just take what you've been given and move on.
One day, in a last ditch effort of survival, Yang, in tears of the idea, tried to go to the market to sell the only thing she had: Her sketchbook.
But by accident, she would walk through the road designed for the princess's carriage, and she could crash into it and halt the ride for her.
This was when her luck would change. Usually, an act like this would be an offense to royalty and had to pay a fine, but Yang had no money and no family to get money from, so the other option would be the dungeon. The princess Mei-Kei however, chose not to lock up the girl, and instead offered an alternative to meet the fine.
That is that Yang becomes a castle servant and gets paid daily, as a permanent job, where she could be cared for and work for that fine, and whatever spare yen she could use for herself after that is paid. To double down on the kindness, Mei-Kei offers a starting payment so Yang could get dinner that day.
Yang, floored by the kindness of the heiress, accepts the job.
From there, rather than resent the royalty in any way, Yang tries to do her best for Mei-Kei and meet her expectations. For the sole reason that she's seen personally that Mei-Kei is a good kind person that is worth the respect. She saved her from a miserable fate, and they were complete strangers at the time.
She would prove to be a great member of the castle servant community, and a responsible worker. She would even meet the two new Pretty Cure personally, Mei-Kei (Cure Honor and Mizuki Kage (Cure Ninja).
The two go on a trip to Shingawa to try and recruit the potential third member of their team, Princess Lionel Genkei. At first, Yang wanted nothing to do with that trip, but due to an accidental slip up, Mei-Kei would be taking a cookie with her instead of her Honor Brooch.
Terrified at the idea she'd get fired and ditched, Yang tries to return it, but instead gets stuck in the back of the carriage and is taken on the trip without the others knowledge.
Arriving at Shingawa without the others knowing, Yang gets lost trying to find Mei-Kei, and panics over the excessive water in the kingdom. A guard helps her out, leaving Yang to question how she deserves this level of kindness. To which the guard tells her that there's no such reason. When you can't fight and don't know how to survive, kindness is the thing that wins the war.
The Kurogata would arrive at Shingawa. But Mei-Kei doesn't have her transformation trinket. Meaning the wielder of the Shingawa Honor Brooch would have to step up, that being the princess...
But in the midst of battle, the brooch gets lost and into the hands of Yang trying to get Mei-Kei her power trinket. With the shadows making Obake, Mei-Kei's ghost guardian pet, think Yang is Lionel, she insists that she uses the brooch to transform for the first time and end the fight.
And Yang does, making her the one to link to the brooch's power instead of the princess, and transform into Cure Dragon.
And she almost instantly freaks out when she realizes what she's become. Mei-Kei and Mizuki, despite not knowing how to react to Yang becoming their third member instead, try to take her in and make her feel welcome as a Pretty Cure. However, Yang continues to freak out and ask how to remove her powers, to which she can't.
The other two try multiple ways to convince the girl that this is a good thing, but none of their rich royal talk works on Yang, who has no experience with this lifestyle. Meanwhile Lionel, for a good portion of the story, would have beef with Yang for stealing power that was meant to be hers. Then they ask for Yang to at least speak her mind and why she doesn't want this, and they hear of how her parent's were lost in war, so she wants no part of war at all. Especially since she has no training like Mei-Kei and Mizuki do, and no idea what these powers even are. She would not stand a chance. All she wants is to get rid of these powers and give them to Lionel, the rightful user.
But the Cures can't do that even if they could, and they can't do that to her. Yang has proven to them to be a sweet, hard working, pleasant girl that they could never be able to hate. And her life had already given them both a new perspective on their powers not being all shine and glamor. So they let Yang make her choice and not join them.
However, when they, two girls who have been nothing but kind to Yang, continue to go into a battle with the Kurogata and risk their lives for the people, Yang realizes that the guard that helped her had a point. Princess or not, she has to fight and at least try again, if only for her two new friends.
So she chooses to join the team as Cure Dragon, accepting the training and responsibility that comes with her new position of power, and becoming the first non-royalty Cure to speak of.
While Yang would continue her job as a castle servant in Yakuki, she also partakes as a friend and teammate to the Pretty Cure, and trains to understand the dragon's power better. Despite her fear of water and her fear of risk. Mei-Kei and Mizuki are two complicated figures with their own royalty responsibilities and issues, while Yang is the naive one and the heart that begs for this team to work together.
She's easily the worst fighter of the team. Cure Honor and Cure Ninja trained at a young age for the role before they even got their powers, while Cure Dragon had no such thing. Instead of being an expert swordswoman like Cure Honor, or a swift sniper like Cure Ninja, Cure Dragon is more of a healer and has a fierce attack move that overpowers the Kurogata and breaks its chi, but only as a one time use per transformation as she'd become exhausted after using it. And warned to never use it twice, as not even the best Dragon users survived doing that.
Cure Dragon is terrified of her new position and this new chapter of her life, but she's doing it anyway to hold on to the hope she has. She's a bad fighter. She is no one of royalty at all. She has no confidence or social capability at all. But she has a kind heart and strength she doesn't realize, one that persuades even the most powerful, such as her new teammates and friends, and maybe even be able to have a voice that can reach the highest in power.
Hey. I’m doing Pretty Cure OC concepts. I have a Pretty Cure fan series on AO3 called ‘Sketched Artistry Pretty Cure’ if you’re curious. Let me know if you enjoy the OC concepts.

Ooooone more dog priest for the night… this is Chana ^_^ Xe is a priest who never made the transition from quadrupedal to bipedal, causes unknown. Despite this, xe still experienced several other changes most priests go through during puberty, foremost among them being the growth of a thumb. The thumb was already there, of course, just like in normal dogs; but in priests, changes during puberty encourage the bones of the thumb to grow to the point that it is fully opposable. Chana has both xyr thumbs, though xyr fingers are still joined by the metacarpal pad, and the carpal pad never grew any larger (the carpal pad in bipedal priests is analogous to the palm of a human hand—there’s no real evolutionary purpose for it besides protecting what would otherwise be thin skin, but it still grows in while the metacarpal pad diminishes and eventually splits). The flexibility of xyr fingers is reduced because of this, but xe’s still able to grip things.
#sketch#ocs#oc:chana#it's pronounced like kah-na btw if you ever want oc name pronounciations please ask me i would love to talk abt them#chana is much older than most of my ocs#xe're daemos's ancestor#xe essentially just look like a huge golden retriever with thumbs ngl#also not relevant necessarily but id like to mention that chana is believed to be a prophet of one of the gods of priest society#xe're extremely revered and respected#long post

Even though Ruggie wasn't at Playful Land, how would Vovó Bucchi react if she met Ernesto/Fellow Honest and Gino/Gidel and heard what they've done? (Also, when I read Fellow's name was Ernesto, my brain autofilled to "Ernesto de la Cruz" from Coco 😭
Obviously Grandma Bucchi would give them a scolding (after all, they're not exactly innocent), but since Ruggie wasn't involved she wouldn't get so worked up… Maybe~
But in the end it would only end one way: Adoption.

500 page milestone fun fact list! (ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ*:・゚✧
Behind the Scenes: Chapter 2 - Renegade!
During the writing phase of this chapter, for the LONGEST time, even after I had completely written out the chapter, it was known as "THE PIRATE ONE", caps included.
Undyne's belt was actually a last minute decision! She was originally never going to have a belt, but when I was reviewing the chapter notes I felt a certain detail needed more attention. Since she was still a form of a "royal guardsman", I felt a sort of "sigil" or "badge" was needed as a requirement to prove her position as a royal officer, so I added the purple and gold commemorative belt, in honor of the late King.
I actually initially used Kah and Fi's "pirate" costume designs in a character design class that was taught by the same teacher that encouraged me to work on comics! We had to choose a story from a list and give it a twist as a direction for our projects. I chose Peter Pan, and twisted it to a pirate world, I used the Twins as a couple of the "Lost Kids". He thought the Twins themselves were adorable and that the outfits they wore looked like they stole them off a couple of dead guys X'D I still have the other 4 characters in my computer, haha.
Since this part is one of the largest of all the currently planned/written out chapters, I thought it would be a better idea to ramp up the production of pages for each update for a while, if I had stuck to two-three pages a week, it would've take MUCH longer to complete, it likely would've hit a whole YEAR…the first plan alone would've taken half a year!
The decision to have Alphys dead prior to the events shown in this chapter was another last minute decision. At first I was going to have her in the scene with Undyne at the bar in Grillby's, she was going to give Undyne a report of information she'd collected about the recent murders and disappearances. The problem was that was literally it, she only showed up ONCE, to give a report, and then was never even referenced to again, even for the remainder of the scene! Once I figured out that out, I thought it would be better to change that detail.
Alphys was killed by the Hacker in front of Undyne, she was one of the earlier 'puppet' experiments. This caused Undyne to forcibly (and unwillingly) activate "Undying" mode, but she kept it covered since then because she hated looking at it, she felt too much shame for letting the Hacker get away.
The Behind The Scenes idea started during the production of this chapter! ^_^
The reason as to why the second update of chapter two, the one with the MIA page, was because my birthday was that week and my friend decided to stay the night so we could play final Fantasy XV and Breath of the Wild. And once again I had left page production to the last minute (I even started early that week ;w;) and had to make the decision to cut the third page in order to update on-time ^_^; (Which also explains why the page quality for that block was teeeerible! Even for back then! Haha)
I had to sketch out an entire area map for this chapter because I didn't know where everything was in time and space. I assumed everything was conveniently in one long straight line of boardwalk, I soon realized this was a dumb assumption and fixed it.
Asgore's "God" form is based off of Asriel's Angel of Death form, I thought it would be a good idea to have them both have similar forms since they're father and son.
I had originally planned to draw out an entire song sequence for Mettaton's show as well as the entire interaction between Necros and Papyrus at Grillby's, I eventually realized this would be unnecessary to the plot and take up a lot of time.
The Virus code on Hacked!Chara's sweater can be decoded, though there is currently no full version displayed anywhere.
The "wing" pattern on the wall when the Hacker was stabbed was initially an accident. I was messing around with the brush and noticed it took shape. I then finished it up with intention, and meant for it to be interpreted as a "fallen angel".
#UnderSource#Behind the Scenes#Under/Source#I find these fun to look back on#I often forget what I've written and what my thought process was#it's like a 'scrap'book of scrapped concepts and random info!#personally I'm a huge nerd for behind the scenes stuff#idk how many of you actually care about this kind of stuff tho XD#either way it's here for those who do like it
